Love can be expressed in a variety of ways: sometimes it is a nice smile or a loving embrace, sometimes a scented rose or chocolates. It is very rare, however, for a complete hotel to be built on love. Yet the love between the British pilot Michael Graham and the American Patsy Daszel was so strong and special that they both wanted to preserve it for ever in the form of a small paradise. They looked all over Europe for the perfect location where they could retreat with a few select friends. Finally they found this very special place on the Italian coast: a gem in the middle of the beautiful landscape of Monte Argentario. The rugged cliffs overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, ancient olive trees, cypress trees and oleander bushes, bougainvillea, rosemary and lavender all form part of the perfect backdrop for their very own Garden of Eden.
On July 2, 1965 the “Il Pellicano”, was opened and only recently a wellbeing area has been added: the Pelliclub. The new spa extends over 200 square metres in the basement underneath the entrance hall. Apart from a gold and marble Roman mosaic steam bath, known as the “Calidarium”, “Kneipp” showers, four treatment rooms, a hairdresser and beauty salon as well as a fitness centre provide relaxation and recuperation from everyday life. Indeed one cannot help but feel well here: a perfect spot for relaxation.
