Regarding the project for Axor, you said "it is something totally out of the ordinary, a new look for the shower". What does the innovation consist in? Is it functional? Aesthetic?  Technological?
The Axor Starck ShowerCollection is innovative “haute couture” for the shower – and though aesthetic, functional and technological, it is above all emotional as well. Our project turns the shower into a private spa and that is above all a place of emotions and sensuality.

Axor Starck ShowerCollection is a system of square modules that may be attached for personalizing the shower. It has been defined as " haute couture for the shower": what are the functions of the single elements? What are the functional advantages that can be obtained by combining the modules?
I am unable to disclose any details before we present the collection in Milan. However, this much I can reveal: The Axor Starck ShowerCollection is a complete programme, a real system, like a mosaic with many different individual parts that you can put together and combine quite freely just as you wish. Simply make use of your own creativity – just mix it!

What are the aesthetic values of the project?
Using the Axor Starck ShowerCollection, everyone – particularly architects and interior designers – can give free reign to their own creativity. It makes an infinite number of very individual solutions possible and offers the highest measure of flexibility for them. This is the only way to create the true aesthetics of personal well-being.

The bathroom designed as a home spa: is it utopia or reality?
No, it has long since ceased to be utopia, even though, of course, not every bathroom built today is designed as a private spa. Unfortunately there are still too many new bathrooms that actually belong to yesterday because they are purely functional. However, already my concept of the “Salon d’eau” from 1994 was aiming to rethink this room as a place where you have fun, where you regenerate, where you talk to the love of your life. And now the time has come to speak about the shower and present a new concept for the shower. We are doing that with the Axor Starck ShowerCollection.

You have collaborated with Axor for over 16 years, the first project was the 1994 Axor Starck Classic, which is one of the company's best sellers. As a designer, what ties you to the company and vice versa? What are the values that determine a fruitful relationship of collaboration?
I have been working together with Axor since 1992. Axor are not only good; in my opinion they are the best. They are also the best because they are German. After all, the Germans take things seriously, even though they are sometimes a little slow as a result. They simply take the time to develop a product until it really reaches perfection, to look at everything exactly and to conduct tests. And in the end you really cannot make the product any better. I like that because I like the best, because I like supreme quality. And I want to give people only the best because I respect them. So for this reason, I have not only developed products with Axor but concepts. This is possible because Axor, above all Klaus Grohe and Philippe Grohe, do not think in terms of individual products but in terms of collections and rooms. They have grasped that fact that the bathroom is changing and they are actively involved in designing this change.
